The Gospel
Built in 1888, St Francis of Assisi was the first church in Castle Rock. Father Walter Steidle was the first priest ordained to the church. It was later decommissioned in 1966 when the parish built a larger church east of town.
The Scileppi family immigrated to New York from Polizzi Generosa, Sicily in the early 1900’s. Polizzi Generosa is a small town outside of Palermo with about 3,000 residents. Domenico Dolce of Dolce & Gabbana was born there and it is also where Martin Scorsese’s family is from. Today, our cousin, Santo Scileppi is a Monsignor at the Parrocchia di Petralia Sottana nearby.
The Scileppi brothers, Mike III, Vinnie, & Lou grew up on Long Island and moved to Colorado in 1995 with their parents Mike Scileppi Jr & Rose. The Scileppi brothers have owned and continue to operate restaurants on the east coast for the last 20 years. Their first Denver restaurant, Sliceworks, was born in 2012 when Pilot turned Restaurateur Lou decided to follow in his brother Vinnie’s footsteps.
